Scout InsurTech Interview with Scopeworx

Scopeworx is a technology company transforming how roofing insurance claims are priced and settled. Through data-driven, neutral, real-time estimates, it removes friction and disagreement between carriers, contractors, and homeowners. Chris Luiz sat with CEO and Founder, Curtis Kincaid, to learn more about how Scopeworx is impacting the industry.

Who are your clients?

Scopeworx serves every party to a roofing transaction. Clients include carriers, contractors, public adjusters, appraisers, law firms, TPAs, and homeowners. In addition to insurance roofing, our technology is used to establish pricing and manage the roof replacement in solar and real estate transactions.

What does your product do?

Scopeworx delivers a neutral, fair market roofing estimate that both sides can accept up front. The system ingests common roof measurements such as Hover, EagleView, Roofr, and GAF QuickMeasure. It prices materials across 652 price zones with live APIs to ABC Supply and SRS. It incorporates labor inputs from a network of about 3,500 crews. In roughly six seconds, it returns a market rate number that shortens months of back and forth and can route work to a vetted contractor when requested.

How much capital have you raised?

None. The company is bootstrapped.

Was the company born from within or outside the industry?

Within. I worked in catastrophe adjusting and management from 2004 to 2018, then built a 17 person estimating firm that produced and settled more than 200,000 estimates. That base dataset allowed the team to internally change how estimates were written and presented to carriers. During this time the team focused on automation and machine learning to review building code, material installation requirements, roof complexity for proper waste calculations.

What growth metrics have you accomplished over the last 12 months?

Revenue grew from about 1.3 million dollars last year to a 2025 run rate target of roughly 17 million dollars. Partnerships have grown from a handful of roofing contractors using Scopeworx to assist in settling their insurance disputes to a full tech integration with Hover, partnerships with multiple law firms representing policyholders and insurance companies, tech integrations with CRM platforms nearing final release, and 3 TPA groups using Scopeworx to standardize and streamline their process and pricing.

Within your domain, what is the current challenge that the industry is facing?

Roofing claims have become adversarial. Contractors and carriers are entrenched on price. This drags out cycle times, pushes matters toward mediation or litigation, and leaves homeowners waiting. Carrier staffing often lacks deep construction expertise and procurement cycles are slow. Finding open minded decision makers who can move a solution through multiple layers is difficult.

How does Scopeworx take a unique approach to providing value?

While other roofing marketplaces exist, most are designed to serve one side of the transaction. One competitor operates as a licensed roofing contractor while marketing as a tech platform but their pricing model is strictly tied to their company overseeing installations - its business model revolves around generating revenue for its own company, even while claiming to provide independent estimates. Another platform compensates contractors to write estimates that are then submitted back to insurers for review and claim settlement. In both cases, these models are tied to the claim outcome, which undermines their ability to act as truly independent settlement solutions.

Scopeworx takes a fundamentally different approach. We’re a neutral, multi-sided platform serving carriers, contractors, counsel, homeowners, and public adjusters alike. Every estimate generated through Scopeworx reflects fair market value—unbiased, transparent, and grounded in live market data. Our pricing engine draws from real-time material costs and labor updates across 652 geographic zones, ensuring accuracy that reflects actual conditions on the ground.

Speed and precision are at the core of our value: standard estimates are returned in about six seconds, or roughly 14 seconds when leveraging EagleView data due to larger datasets. Because the Scopeworx team comes from within the insurance industry, our platform is built for smooth adoption and clear communication with carriers.

By using Scopeworx, organizations experience shorter negotiations, lighter adjuster workloads, improved policyholder outcomes, and, when needed, access to vetted contractors. Financial partners also rely on Scopeworx as a leakage and validation check, confirming that contractor pricing aligns with market realities.

What inspired you to start this company?

I was discouraged by how difficult it had become to fully and fairly indemnify homeowners. Years in the field watching families wait while parties argued over price led me to build a neutral, data driven way to land at the number everyone ends at anyway.

Can you share any goals for the next 12 months?

As additional carriers, adjusting firms, and TPAs finish their testing of the Scopeworx process, the next 12 months are expected to be a very busy year for growth and development. Scopeworx looks forward to additional implementation on several national platforms that are currently in the process of integration and UX/UI design. With the current partners in place and development, Scopeworx looks forward to hitting our goal of 1,500 estimates per day.
