Who are your clients?

We serve B2C individuals: people who want to leave their affairs in order from an emotional, financial and legal standpoint. Over time, we’ve discovered a strong growth opportunity in B2B, especially through employee benefits. We're also exploring B2B2C paths, potentially working with carriers, brokers and MGAs in the U.S.

What does your product do?

Past Post is a blockchain-based app focused on the afterlife sector, what we call DeathTech, which intersects with insurtech.

It’s designed to help people prepare for one of life’s most difficult moments by offering a suite of features:

  • Posthumous messages: I can leave messages for the future for the people I care about.

  • Funeral preferences: I can record how I want to be remembered. While not legally binding, it helps guide my loved ones.

  • Estate checklist: I can list my will, bank accounts, insurance policies, properties, cars and anything to help my executor understand what I own.

  • Care information: I can leave routines and medical info for my pets or dependents, even noting any relevant policies.

  • Membership with embedded insurance: Through our paid plans, users in Mexico, for example, can access policies like life and funeral insurance. We're working with partners like MAPFRE to make this happen.

Together, all of this forms a digital legacy. It’s a way for me to leave behind emotional, legal and financial order for the people I love.

How much capital have you raised?

We’ve bootstrapped the company with over $1.1 million. We've also received some support from friends and family.

Was the company born from within or outside the industry?

Past Post didn’t start as an insurance or funeral services company. We began with a simple idea: creating posthumous messages. As we moved forward, we discovered new layers to the problem and evolved the product. We found our way into insurance along that journey.

What growth metrics have you accomplished over the last 12 months?

In Mexico, we’ve had over 20,000 downloads across the Google and Apple app stores. Roughly 10% of those users are paid subscribers. We’re actively building alliances with larger companies to accelerate our B2B growth.

Within your domain, what is the current challenge that the industry is facing?

Honestly, the main challenge is cultural, not technical. People are comfortable with technology, but the subject of death still creates fear and avoidance. That’s why we changed our messaging. We stopped talking about death and started talking about the problems caused by unpreparedness.

We also launched a podcast called Anthem (or Before I Die in English), where we focus on stories of emotional, legal and financial chaos left behind. When people hear those stories, they recognize themselves, and that’s when they become open to a solution like ours.

How does Past Post take a unique approach to providing value?

We take an emotional and empathetic approach. We’re not just offering tech; we’re offering peace of mind. We meet people where they are, in the middle of grief, confusion and fear. And we do it by helping them organize their lives in a way that respects their relationships.

Our product is about responsibility, dignity and legacy.

What inspired the team to start this company?

My personal story is a big part of this. When I was 17, my father went out to buy cigarettes and never came home. We had a good life before that, but his sudden absence left us with emotional and financial chaos.

Years later, I reconnected with him only to find out he had terminal cancer. When he passed away, a legal battle erupted between our side of the family and his daughters from another marriage. There were no documents, no instructions, nothing. That battle lasted over six years and cost us dearly.

That experience shaped me. I don’t want anyone else to go through what we did. That’s why I built Past Post.

Can you share any goals for the next 12 months?

We want to enter the U.S. market and be recognized as a trusted family solution. We want to grow, to inspire other entrepreneurs to build in the DevTech, InsurTech and AgeTech spaces. There’s so much we can do as a society if we stop avoiding conversations around death.

In the U.S., there's even a national day in February, Unclaimed Property Day, which highlights how big this issue is. Governments lose billions simply because people don’t leave things in order. We want to change that.

Ultimately, our goal is to help families find peace, prevent conflict and build a more compassionate digital legacy.
